WANTED

The Avenger Bothers

BACK

A strange story.  Two brothers from Planet Harris in Tau-31, apparently ordinary citizens other than the usual traffic offences that most of us are plagued with, who turned their hand to piracy and destruction.

Strange because these Yoder brothers, Cydro the younger and Merdek, the older, were both respected in the Border Worlds as honourable men of their word.  Cydro was always the fun-loving, bubbly and never-aging mischievous kid that others loved to be around.  Merdek the cool, quiet older brother, chiding his younger brother for his irresponsible, rowdy behaviour, but always ready to step in and help anyone out of an unfair fight whilst somehow managing to avoid serious damage to anyone and with no loss of face to either combatant.  Cydro followed his older brother’s footsteps, both earning enough by trading and taking on private mercenary work in the Border Worlds.

Then one day a Rheinland squad arrived at their home looking for them, announcing to shocked neighbours and passers-by that they were accused of the assassination of one Rolf von Bleidenberg, a respected Rheinland politician, and were to be arrested and surrendered to them.  Neither Merdek nor Cydro were anywhere to be found.  The Rheinland commander arrested their father for questioning, and in his anger and frustration had their home destroyed.

After a period of several weeks with no sightings of either of the two brothers, came the announcement on the Der Rheinlander Zeitung webcast that a Mr Arunar Yoder, father of the wanted Yoder brothers, had died “whilst helping authorities with their inquires in Rheinland, though the authorities had of course done everything possible to save him” the reporter stated.

Then it was as if a storm had hit Sirius.  Report after report flooded in of attacks on Rheinland vessels and property in several systems by two mysterious but evidently capable pilots in all-black ships, one an unidentified Light Fighter and the other an unidentified Very Heavy Fighter, both with large ‘AY’ blazons painted on the fins, and using the call-signs “Avenger-1” and “Avenger-2”.  There have been no confirmations but it is suspected that the Yoder brothers may well be “the Avengers”.

With large Sirius-wide bounties and a “wanted alive or dead” warrant on their heads, there have been several unsuccessful attempts by would-be bounty hunters to bring them in which have resulted in heavy losses.  The general public is warned to stay away from these well-armed and highly dangerous individuals and leave it to the professionals.
