RRJDS Server Rules

We operate our servers for the enjoyment and participation of ALL players.
You are required to play with FAIRNESS, SPORTSMANSHIP and HONOUR at ALL times.

This is an interactive, role-playing, player-supporting Guild, we exist for our players and members.

We operate our servers to provide a friendly, purposeful gaming environment for the enjoyment and participation of ALL our players. We do not encourage solo gamers and we positively discourage unsocial playing and unsociable behaviour.

You must:

    • introduce yourself when you join us,
    • approach and welcome new players when they join us,
    • team up and interact with other players, and
    • make your own and their gaming time here a pleasure.

Read and respect our Server Rules below. There are not many, just sensible ones for fair sporting and honourable gameplay so that everyone can enjoy his or her time here with us, including - most importantly of all - YOU!.

Our Rules are Enforced

We don't like to continually say this, so this is the only place you will see it:

Language Help

We have admins that speak a variety of languages. Click here for help.

General Behaviour

This Guild enforces Fair Play, Courtesy, Sporting and Honourable behaviour.

Cheating, modding, offensive character names and offensive behaviour are forbidden.

Any offenders will be jailed, temporarily banned or permanently banned.

New York System

Player-versus-player combat ("PVP") is forbidden completely in the New York System.

The New York System is where new players start.  We want them to learn the game with us with our help, with your help, and without being attacked.

If you want to combat other players, go anywhere outside the New York System.

There is only one exception to this rule: Guild Enforcers hunting Guild fugitives.  If a fugitive is found in the New York system any action by Guild Enforcers is legal.

We have a combat training school for interested players, email to admin@rrjds.com for details.

Modding and Cheating

Modding and cheating are not sporting behaviour.

The mods we use have many excellent ships and weapons that can be bought normally, and it's not hard to make a lot of money by trading or doing missions, without modding or cheating.

Pressing F1, rebooting your PC or self-destructing to avoid combat or defeat or even just to halt hostilities with NPC ("AI") characters is considered to be cheating and is forbidden.

All that cheating does is cause lag, and even if it's not apparent to us or other players, it will ruin your own enjoyment of the game in the end and you will get fed up with it sooner. If you are caught and continue to do it you will be jailed, banned and even permanently banned, so please don't.

If you cheat because you're finding it too hard, you're not playing the game the way you should be - stop cheating, get a pal and team up! Then, we'll all be happy!

PVP Combat - Rules of Engagement

Any player wishing to rob, duel or attack another must use the ROE at all times.

Like all other players, Pirates, Buccaneers, and Bounty Hunters must operate within these Server Rules and our Rules of Engagement ("ROE").

They are designed to avoid unpleasant conflicts and bad feelings between players. Combat should be fun, and even Buccaneering (highway robbery by another word!) should be only moderately damaging to the victim.

Want to know the difference between Pirates and Buccaneers? Check out our Pirating & Buccaneering Guidelines.

We have a combat training school for interested players, email to admin@rrjds.com for details.

Character Types

Players must interact with others and must not play alone. All players are required to select a type and career for each character and role-play each one accordingly.

Careers can be chosen from these below, and more can be added on request:

    Trader / Merchant
Traders and merchants use freighters and carry goods between systems to make money. Freighters are not good fighting ships and so Traders need to hire Escorts for protection in hostile systems.

    Hired Courier / Transporter
Courier / Transporters hire themselves out to carry cargo for other paying customers.

    Pirate / Buccaneer
Pirates are uncouth, rough scoundrels who will cut your throat for tuppence. Buccaneers have better manners and are moderate in their demands for safe passage - but are deadly combattants when refused.

    Escort
Escorts are hired by Traders to defend against attack by hostile factions or pirates on the trade routes, for a fee or share of the profits.

    Bounty Hunter / Mercenary
These are often lone hunters who hunt down bountied fugitives and outlaws, or are hired to assist in territorial feuds for high fees.

    Explorer / Researcher
These pioneers lead the way to discover new routes and chart uncharted systems. They are often hired by the Guild and paid handsomely for their work.

    Freelancer / Privateer
These are the undecisive citizens of Sirius who are unsure of their true path in life and are Jacks-of-all-trades. They are often companions of the more decisive citizens until they "find themselves".

    Non-human (alien) Races
From time to time a creature of alien origin strays into Sirius. They are often hostile and prey on unwary citizens.

    Fugitive / OUTLAW
Fugitives are bountied characters wanted dead or alive by the Guild. They are ordinary ciizens until they are tagged [FUGITIVE] by the Guild. The bounty can be requested by another player and will only be active when confirmed by the Guild, if the reason for the bounty is accepted by the Guild. There are conditions whereby a Fugitive can secure his release from the bounty, and the tag is then removed.

OUTLAWS have automatic bounties of $10 million on their heads and are tagged [OUTLAW] to warn citizens of their presence. They attack with minimal warning and earn $1 million for each player character they kill. They are the prey of Bounty Hunters and Mercenaries as well as ordinary citizens. If they continue to evade justice, the bounty is increased by the Guild. They are hunted until killed, and once killed the character must be deleted, although a new one may be started by the same player.

    Personal Store
Players can have their own personal store characters, for storing personal equipment and money, but must not sell to other players.

Guild and Clan Shops / Stores / Banks
The Guild operates Shop / Banks which are made for the purpose of selling equipment to players who cannot acquire it for themselves and for commercial loans.

Registered Clans and groups can operate one or more Shop / Bank characters (see Shops / Banks).

Clans and Groups

Honourable and Sporting Clans and groups with structure, standards and definite purpose are welcome.

Each clan or group is required to identify its Leader and appoint an Ambassador who will deal fairly and without bias with any complaints made against that group.

We insist on:

  • Fairness

  • Sportsmanship

  • Honour

  • Self-Discipline and Self-Policing

  • Adherence to Server Rules and the Rules of Engagement

We encourage:

  • Open team events:

    • tournaments

    • races

    • bounty hunts & chases

    • treasure-hunts

    • clan wars

    • system occupation wars

  • Base Station Ownership

  • Honourable Tolling (when in your system) and

  • Piracy (when out of your system)

We do not allow:

  • Perpetual duelling

  • Unfairness or player harassment

  • Planet Ownership

  • System Ownership

  • Gang wars

  • Kill-on-Sight listing of any player

  • Revenge killing

  • Incitement of others to harass any player

  • Switching from clan to non-clan characters (or vice-versa) to hunt down any player

Registration

Players are welcome to check us out by playing with us for a few days to see if they like us or not before registering.

Because our server player files are cleaned up regularly, if players want to preserve their characters they must register their characters' names. Unregistered characters will be deleted by our automatic cleanup routines.

Please allow us a few days to update our records.

If we do delete your character before you can register it we apologise.

To register your character names, complete and submit the Online Registration Form.

Player / Character Accounts

Our Forum is open to everyone, please register on it and post your views, everyone has a say in what we do. See what other players have to say, and what we are doing and planning on doing. The RRJDS Guild is here for you.

We require an email address to be able to communicate with you when we have something important to say. We suggest you make a new email address using your main character name on yahoo! for this purpose (example: rrjds_outlander@yahoo.com), so that we do not have your private permanent email address at all.

Confidentiality:

No information on players will be released to any other individual or organisation, except for players who are permanently banned from our servers for breaking our Server Rules. The character names and account IDs of permanently banned players may be given out to administrators of other FL servers.
