William "IceCold" Frost

During the final combats of the Nomad War, a Wing Commander flew his ship between his friend and an incoming missile in a desperate attempt to save his fellow pilots' life.  The damage was significant and the fighter was lost in deep space during the continued combat, the Commander's wingman thinking his friend had given his life to save him.

Commander William "Jack" Frost looked over the wreckage floating about him in space and took stock of his desperate situation. The engine, communications and life support systems had sustained significant damage, ensuring there was no way for the fighter to make it back to any base or call for help. His only hope was the automatic rescue beacon mounted on his ship, which he could not even confirm was functioning due to the severity of the electrical and com-controls damage.

Alone and with no communications of any kind, drifting in the dark coldness of space, Frost never gave up. He continued to make what repairs he could and got minimum life support working again.

For what seemed like an eternity, he could only sit and wait. With his limited amount of supplies finally gone and shortly after down to using the last oxygen in his emergency suit to stay alive, he slowly drifted off into the darkness of suffocation and sweet Oblivion.

When the cargo ship The Tubby, came in response to the beacon and the crew dragged him out of the wreckage, they at first thought he was dead. They only felt the coldness of space and Death. It was this very fortunate fact though which had saved his life. His life support had given out but the extreme cold of space, much similar to that of a drowning victim in frigid waters, and the suit which had kept him pressurized, allowed his body to stay with minimum oxygen and blood flow for a significant length of time, though his time was just about up when he was discovered.

So it was that the ship's doctor was able to revive him with no apparent brain damage. Not knowing his name, the crew nick-named him "Frosty" until he regained consciousness and was able to speak. After several months of recovery he was able to help out on board the Tubby until it docked with a New York Systems' station.

During this time as often occurs in space, many exciting adventures befell the crew of the Tubby, to include a run in with an 8-ship scout force of nomads. With the gunner badly injured, the captain unconscious and the second mate in a panic, Frost stepped in and took command. Operating the Weapons Systems while giving commands at the same time, he enabled the crew to repel the nomads, killing them to the last ship.

He continued as the ship's captain, until the regular Officers could resume their roles of command on the Tubby. This event, combined with his rescue and the cold, calculating, and unerring manner with which he took over command during the nomad crisis and for a short duration thereafter, caused the crew to officially nick-name him, "IceCold Frost", a name he carries to this day in memory of, as he says, his "Rebirth" into the Spacing world.

After several months on board, the Tubby finally docked at Detroit Munitions. Frost made his way back to Manhattan, reporting for duty.

He soon after retired from the Liberty Navy, and struck out on his own to finally become a member of the RRJDS organization and from there with his still hot anger and hatred for the nomads, started a new set of quests.

A new life along with a new set of friends and many new adventures yet to come.
