The only son of a simple fisherman from Planet Cambridge, James deBritt completed a distinguished career in the Bretonian Armed Forces, retiring at the rank of Major at the relatively young age of 32, having decided to “quit while I was still ahead”, as he put it. His claim to fame is the "Avenger's Reversal" maneuver, which is named after his military call-sign and is still taught today.

Once a civilian, Jim set his hand and mind to mining and trading, peaceful ways of making a living, but never really felt he had met his calling. Scratching a living in this way is a lonely, uncertain and hazardous business with months at a time spent in his ship, and after the death of both his parents Jim had found himself entirely without family.

During those long and often lonely trade hauls, fraught with dozens of pirate ambushes and with many a narrow escape for which he had his military piloting skills to thank, Jim had seen much pain, injustice and death inflicted on others while he had been forced to flee to save himself. As the years passed he grew more and more tired of running, and of the injustices that were inflicted upon others.

Finally when pirates on the Diamond Route wantonly killed Roger Harris, an old veteran merchant whom Jim had held in high esteem, enough was enough. He had heard of the RRJDS from various sources, learned of how they protected traders and, when needed, dispensed swift justice upon those who deserved it.

James deBritt docked his Dromedary for the last time, and launched into space as StarAvenger, RRJDS Guild Enforcer.

Now he can make that difference!
